天趣當代藝術將於2023年12月15日舉辦藝術家吳哲仁的香港首場個展,展覽將呈現藝術家如何在解構與融合,重組與再現中確立自己的繪畫符號,並在作品中構建出當代的詩意國度。開幕酒會將於12月15日下午5-8時舉行,展期至2024年1月12日。

作為常年奔走於中德兩國的華裔藝術家,北京、漢堡雙城記的生活和工作,讓東西文化在吳哲仁的思想和作品中有了深度的融合。我們似乎能從吳哲仁的作品中,看到他試圖用符號和圖像聯絡中德文化共性的嘗試和努力。

基於他的生活,吳哲仁通過創作去尋找他所生活的兩種不同文化的共性和普遍性,也是試圖去尋找人性最基礎、最原始的精神初衷。他將德國數學家發明的莫比烏斯環作為自己創作的主要元素,並和中國並非傳統卻又漸成傳統的數字「8」結合起來,重組並演繹了介於真實與夢境,東方與西方的全新的視覺世界。

具象的繪畫,偶然的效果以及抽象的理念被巧妙地組合於作品中,中國文化的敘事方法自然地被藝術家轉換成視覺語言。他的所有圖示,猶如隔窗看雨,窗外風景透過被打濕的玻璃映入眼簾,沒有了具體實物,只有投射入目的光影,給人增加了更多的想像。模糊的影像,又似乎在消弭兩座城市、兩種文化的異秉,也是在尋找兩種不同文化的共性。在不斷重組與再現中,藝術家創造了獨屬於自己的哲學與詩意的維度。

Art of Nature Contemporary is delighted to present Wu Zheren's first solo exhibition in Hong Kong on December 15, 2023. The exhibition will showcase how the artist establishes his own visual language through deconstruction, integration, reorganization, and representation, constructing a contemporary poetic realm in his works. The opening will be on December 15, from 5 to 8 PM. The exhibition will be on view from Dec 15 to Jan 12.

As a Chinese artist who frequently travels between China and Germany, Wu's life and work in both Beijing and Hamburg have facilitated a profound fusion of Eastern and Western cultures in his thoughts and artworks. It seems that his works reflect his efforts to connect the commonalities of Chinese and German cultures through symbols and imagery.

Based on his life experiences, Wu seeks to find the commonalities and universality of the two distinct cultures he encounters, while also attempting to explore the fundamental and primal spiritual origins of humanity. He utilizes the Möbius strip, invented by a German mathematician, as a primary element in his creations, combining it with the Chinese numeral "8," which is not traditionally associated but is gradually becoming a symbol of tradition. Through this combination, he reinterprets and deduces a new visual world that exists between reality and dreams, merging elements from both Eastern and Western cultures.

Figurative, fortuitous effect, and abstraction are cleverly combined in his works, with the narrative methods of Chinese culture naturally transformed into visual language by the artist. His symbols were like watching rain through a window, with the scenery outside being reflected in the eyesight through the rain-drenched glass. Without concrete objects, only projected light and shadows remain, leaving ample room for imagination. The nebulous images seem to blur the boundaries between the two cities and two cultures, while also seeking commonalities within these distinct cultural contexts. Through constant reorganization and representation, the artist creates his own philosophical and poetic dimensions.
