Art of Nature proudly presents Charm of Ink - Modern Ink Exhibition on March 23rd, the first exhibition in 2018. It is our great honor to invite 10 renowned Hong Kong modern ink artists, including Chan Shing Kau and Chan Kwan Lap, protégé of Master Liu Kuo Sung, which can be view from March 23rd to April 20th. Join us for the opening reception on Friday, March 23rd, 6 to 8 pm.
Modern Ink, as one of the important trends in Hong Kong, does not only inherit the traditional culture of China but also seeks to absorb Western modern art at the same time. Artists break free the limitations and expanded the possibilities of modern ink painting in terms of its technique, randomness, and freedom. “Modern Ink leads Chinese painting into a brand new realm, which makes Hong Kong Modern Ink occupy a unique place in the world (Mr. Tang Hoi Chiu, the former Chief Curator of the Hong Kong Museum of Art).” Lui Shou Kwan, Wong Wucius, and Liu Kuo Sung, as well as other modern ink painters, they’ve all inherited the tradition and formed their own unique styles, transforming landscape to higher abstract imaginary such as the universe. Charm of Ink - Modern Ink Exhibition is pleased to present the Star Dust series by Mr. Chan Shing Kau, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Modern Ink Painting Society, embraces Liu Kuo Sung‘s concept of modern ink, by using water rubbing and steeped ink techniques, and wiping dots, somewhat between reality and illusion. Mr. Chan Kwan Lap, also a student of Liu Kuo Sung, presents Spiritual Mindset·Mountain Wilderness series, blending hazy mountains and plains, revealing the oriental charm and the spirit of ink. The philosophy of life thus divulged.
The exhibition showcases themes of works of urban landscape, city life, and natural scenery. Showing the capability of ink art and flourished its form of expression. It is also an attempt to realize the achievement of abstract modern ink art in Hong Kong. To locate its historical and aesthetic value, as well as a reflection of Hong Kong’s culture.
Art of Nature in the decade persists in supporting and promoting Hong Kong artists. And we will make use of our experience and take the lead in 2018.
