Art of Nature Contemporary Gallery is proud to present Clairvoyance－Wu Guanzhen Contemporary Art Exhibition, grand opening on December 22nd 2017. The exhibition showcases outstanding new artist Wu Guanzhen’s Dunhuang series. Using linen and 8000-year-old lacquer. In exploration of time and historic reconciliation, attempting to find his own coordinate in the history. We are eager to show you his fascinating Dunhuang art.
Since Han Dynastiy, to Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, lacquer had always been a plaything for the royalties. Wu uses see-through linen and lacquer pigments to reveal the mystery of Dunhuang, its highest piety and its absolute eternity. Intricint line drawings of figures and the use of colors are the legacy of Sui and Tang Dynasties. The use of large shades, creating a looming imagery of seeming far away yet awating to be seen.
Lacquer and Dunhuang art are both important treasures in Chinese culture. Artist Wu Guanzhen attempts to reveal the mystery of Dunhuang art with see-through silk linen and lacquer paints. Using contemporary approach and unique perspective to further reveal the extraordinary characteristics of these treasures. We hope to reveal an art feast of splendid Chinese culture.
